Cpu led solid bent socket pins6/20/2023 BOOT LED light is always ON after power on(indicates no boot device or boot device faulty) VGA LED light is always ON after power on(indicates no Graphics Card or Graphics Card faulty)ĭ. DRAM LED light is always ON after power on(indicates no Memory or Memory faulty)Ĭ. CPU LED light is always ON after power on(indicates no CPU or CPU faulty)ī. Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot according to the Q-LED indicator :Ī. Please confirm whether the motherboard supports Q-LED indicator To confirm if the key parts (CPU, DRAM, Graphics Card, HDD/SSD) are functioning as normal during the startup, you can check if the Q-LED light of the motherboard is always ON To provide you more detailed instruction, you can also click ASUS Youtube video link below to know more about ASUS motherboard troubleshooting via Q-LED indicators That said, I've ordered hundreds of items from Newegg over the years and that was the only time I ran into that sort of issue.ASUS motherboard troubleshooting via Q-LED indicators The complete lack of questions on their side and the fact that they did everything for free led me to believe they might have had a flag or notes in their order tracking system that the CS person used to determine they'd tried to pass off a return as a new item. When I called Newegg to ask for a replacement the CS person I spoke to didn't hassle me at all about the return, over-nighted a replacement and a pre-paid return box for the damaged PSU. However, the PSU literally had scorch marks on the main MB power connection and one of the four pin connectors also had scorch marks and was even slightly melted. When I opened the box I noticed the plastic bag the PSU was packaged in wasn't folded neatly or sealed, but I assumed it was just poor quality control. Seems crazy but I'm not sure I blame them.įour or five years ago I ordered a brand new PSU from Newegg, but they shipped me a damaged PSU that had obviously been returned. Now apparently people are taking to shooting a video as they open the box and inspect the mobo. If you were the unfortunate victim in this scenario, you would be HOSED. Here is the kicker: How likely is it that the sellers (Microcenter, Newegg, and others) will take those mobos back and then sell them AS NEW to an unsuspecting buyer? It seems like this is happening sometimes. I also think it is likely that they would bail themselves out by returning the mobo. I do think it is likely that there are a number of people who are careless and will botch their cpu install and bend some pins. Also, I don't think it is likely that the pins would be bent during shipping. I wouldn't rule it out, but it doesn't seem logical. I would have to think that it is pretty unlikely that Asus or any other manufacturer would ship a board with bent pins. That part always bothered me, but I just take it slow, make sure everything is lined up, and apply only as much evenly distributed force as necessary to get everything locked into place.Īfter reading the internet ramblings, here is my take on what is going on. I will say, for the last few that I built it seemed to take an uncomfortable amount of force to get the cooler attached to the motherboard. I don't know if IB is different in this regard. Of course, I always am careful to double-check everything and make sure it is correctly aligned. My main question is: Are these pins in the new socket designs hypersensitive to being bent? Like many here, I have built my own PCs quite a few times over the years, and I don't remember this being an issue. Then I did a little but more searching and I found various other ramblings on the internet about similar issues with Microcenter, sometimes with Asus and sometimes other such as Gigabyte. Some people claimed they received a mobo with bent pins (before they even put the cpu in) and when they tried to return it of course they were told no because bent pins are always caused by customer misuse. It seemed to be mostly an issue with Asus motherboards. I first noticed this bent pins thing when I started to look at Z77 motherboards and I was reading Newegg reviews.
